American Terawatt is building a new industrial electric grid and is hiring a Head of Procurement in San Francisco. You will own strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and equipment delivery, partnering with CTO, Engineering, Development and Commercial teams.

This hands-on role offers a path to lead a procurement team as the company scales. You will secure critical HVDC and transmission hardware, develop sourcing plans, and keep timelines on track, with a focus on delivering at scale and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years procuring major equipment for large capital projects.
• Experience with long-lead equipment and custom-engineered projects.
• Experience sourcing components at commercial scale with vendor negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Define and iterate specifications with engineering, development, and commercial teams.
• Develop strategic sourcing plans balancing constraints against timelines.
• Secure high-value hardware supply at scale: transformers, switchgear, batteries, and related gear.
• Negotiate favorable terms with vendors on deposits, payment, and delivery.
• Maintain delivery timelines; devise workarounds to issues as they arise.
• Establish a procurement roadmap tied to project schedules and equipment needs.
