Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is seeking a Purchasing/Materials professional in Peoria, IL to build and manage supplier relationships and ensure service parts support beyond manufacturing life cycle.

You will assess supplier performance, negotiate terms, and drive TCO analyses to optimize costs and quality while aligning with PMO requirements. Key duties include supplier negotiations, on-site assessments, and developing sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Business, Mechanical Engineering or 5–7 years’ experience in Purchasing or Materials Management.
• MBA and professional certifications are a plus.
• Knowledge of materials management and manufacturing processes.
• Professional level PC and ERP skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supplier negotiations relative to cost, quality, delivery performance and capacity commitments.
• Ensure technical equipment, raw materials, and specialized components meet exact specifications while staying on budget.
• Evaluate engineering drawings, BOMs, and product specifications and translate requirements into sourcing strategies and supplier solutions.
• Audit and qualify suppliers.
• Negotiate and implement long-term purchasing agreements.
• Conduct on-site supplier capability assessments.
• Provide high level expediting as necessary.
• Counsel poor performing suppliers and take corrective action.
• Manage projects from concept through implementation, tracking savings, milestones, risks, and stakeholder alignment.
• Conduct Total Cost of Ownership modeling, price analysis, and VA/VE.
