Job summary

Komatsu in Peoria, IL is seeking an experienced engineer to analyze mechanical components and systems across design and hardware stages. You will recommend design modifications to improve reliability, performance, and value, while developing advanced analytical methods using state-of-the-art technology.

You will perform engineering evaluations, support multiple analysis projects annually, and contribute to engineering processes to enhance product design and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, design, machine application, required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering structural analysis, using tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, Nastran, etc., required.
• Strong background in engineering calculations and fundamentals including strength of materials, closed-form calculations, free-body diagrams, fatigue theory, and engineering physics, required.
• Interest in, and willingness to use Agentic AI or other assistive technology, required.
• Interest in, and willingness to learn Python, C++, or other coding languages, required.
• Experience in cross-functional team assignments, required.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis on new and existing designs to reduce prototypes, improve product quality, and reduce warranty expenses.
• Plan and execute 10+ analysis projects per year and deliver data reports.
• Provide guidance in design analysis for design and test engineers.
• Participate in Change Management to drive desired organizational outcomes.
