Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a seasoned Consultant, Procurement Category Management to lead strategic sourcing for technology categories from software to services. You will collaborate with Business Partners, Finance and Technology to optimize spend, reduce total cost of ownership and drive value through structured category plans.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, requiring strong negotiation, data analysis and governance.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in supply chain, procurement, business, finance, accounting, MIS, economics or related fields preferred.
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Partners with Business Partners, Finance, Technology and Procurement to manage new sourcing requests and current contract pipelines.
• Conducts industry research and benchmark analysis to establish a category strategy.
• Build forecasts of demand, service levels, and total cost of ownership with business units.
• Facilitates competitive bid activity (RFP/RFQ/RFI) and negotiates contract terms.
• Assess supplier risk with risk partners and ensure compliance and governance.
• Align category goals with supplier usage and sustainability best practices.
• Mentor and train new associates on procurement policy and processes.
