Job summary

Jobot in Ames, IA is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead the preconstruction process from concept budgeting through project turnover on a variety of commercial projects. You will develop detailed estimates and collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate costing and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in preconstruction/estimating, a related bachelor's degree, and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of preconstruction, estimating, or PM in commercial construction.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Experience with conceptual estimates and GMP pricing.
• Proficient with estimating and project management software.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction process from conceptual budgeting through turnover.
• Prepare conceptual and hard-bid estimates for commercial projects.
• Analyze drawings, specs, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction phase.
• Develop and manage project budgets, value engineering options, and cost-saving strategies.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and scope analyses.
• Assist in scheduling, logistics planning, and constructability reviews.
• Support business development efforts and participate in client presentations as needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
• Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction.
