Job summary

Keen Project Solutions in Ankeny, IA is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead bid development, cost estimation, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and architects during the preconstruction phase.

You will prepare plan takeoffs, assemble bid packages, establish owner budgets, monitor scope, and drive design services across EPC, design-build, and hard-bid opportunities. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in preconstruction or related field.
• PE license (US) / P.Eng (Canada) or FE/EIT preferred; Lean qualifications or willingness to obtain are a plus.
• Proficient with BIM/design tools (Revit/AutoCAD) and collaboration platforms (Procore, Navisworks).
• Willingness to travel; office travel typically ~33% and field travel ~80% depending on project.

Responsibilities

• ENGAGE AND COLLABORATE WITH TEAM MEMBERS DURING ALL PHASES OF PRE-CONSTRUCTION.
• Preplan with project partners to identify constraints and manage risks.
• Consult with management to align bids with business needs and handle multiple bids.
• Manage personnel resources and oversee deliverables across bids.
• Develop and manage takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid packages.
• Establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, and submittals.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
