Job summary

GBA Builders is seeking a Preconstruction Manager / Conceptual Estimator to lead all preconstruction activities for strategic pursuits in Lenexa, KS. You will guide the pursuit team, develop ROMs at early design milestones, and collaborate with A/E partners to create competitive, feasible proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 8+ years of experience.
• Experience supervising staff with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Strong background in project scheduling and conceptual estimating.
• Proven estimating and buyout experience.
• Understanding of contract terms with negotiation experience.
• Biotech/pharma experience preferred but not required.
• OSHA 30-hour Certification required.
• GC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support preconstruction and conceptual estimating efforts for strategic pursuits.
• Develop high level ROMs at 0-30% design milestones with A/E partners.
• Align pursuit strategies with client objectives, project goals, and market conditions.
• Develop and review preliminary project schedules with project management.
• Identify and assess risks early; reflect in pricing, scheduling assumptions, and mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to technical proposals and client presentations highlighting expertise.
• Build relationships with clients, A/E partners, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Prepare handoff materials for smooth transition to project execution.
• Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to keep strategies competitive.
• Support revenue goals by contributing to contracted backlog.
• Travel to and from job sites as needed; operate a company vehicle when required.
