Job summary

The City of Rohnert Park is seeking a technical, hands-on Planning Manager for the Development Services Department to oversee the planning functions for our City. The Planning Manager guides development through the entitlement process, serves the Planning Commission, meets with applicants and regional planning agencies, and assists with economic development.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a passion for innovative solutions, and mastery of conflict resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in land‑use planning, urban planning, public administration, business administration, community development, or closely related field.
• Master's degree in city planning, public administration, business administration, community development, or closely related field desirable (substitutes one year of professional experience).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, oversee, and review the work of staff performing planning support activities.
• Provide staff leadership, training, and performance management within the Planning Division.
• Present planning reports to City Council, Planning Commission, and other boards; liaison to developers and agencies.
• Manage division budget and administer policies and procedures.
• Oversee current and historic preservation planning; guide development through entitlement processes.

Education
