Job summary

City of Ponca City seeks a Planning Director to lead the Development Services Department, directing planning programs, land use and code enforcement while coordinating with the City Manager, Planning Commission and other agencies.

This role requires a Master’s-level understanding of urban planning and strong budgeting, supervision and policy development skills, with a focus on delivering citywide growth and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field.
• Experience in municipal planning and development review preferred.
• Strong leadership and staff supervision abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct, manage and coordinate planning programs and activities.
• Develop goals and priorities for assigned programs.
• Oversee land use, development review, building and code enforcement.
• Prepare reports and presentations for City managers and commissions.
• Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies.
• Manage department budget and staffing.
