Job summary

City of Bixby seeks a Development Services Director to oversee all planning functions and support economic development. The role administers zoning, subdivision regulations, and land use plans, while advising the Planning Commission and City Council.

The director leads a team, coordinates public notices, and implements the city’s comprehensive plans. Requires planning education and strong communication, GIS, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning or related field; or five years of urban planning experience.
• CFM certification or ability to attain within two years of employment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of GIS, databases, and spreadsheet software.
• AICP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer the Comprehensive Planning Program, including zoning and subdivision regulations.
• Prepare reports for Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards with maps and documentation.
• Serve as Neighborhood Services Coordinator and provide advisory support.
• Draft amendments to planning documents and ensure plan consistency with codes and plans.
• Lead staff, supervise personnel, and manage public notices and outreach.
