Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Director of Strategic Planning to partner with the SVP, Government Affairs, and drive strategic alignment, execution, and coordination across the organization. The role requires executive communication and the ability to steer complex programs with high visibility.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, develop executive narratives, and ensure priorities are translated into action while maintaining rigorous governance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in Government Affairs, public policy, strategic planning, corporate affairs, consulting, or related field.
• Experience supporting or partnering with senior executives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding PowerPoint and executive presentation development skills.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex information for senior audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the SVP of Government Affairs.
• Help prioritize time, attention, and resources against the organization’s highest-value priorities.
• Anticipate issues, opportunities, decisions, and information the SVP will need to effectively lead the organization.
• Coordinate between the SVP and Government Affairs leadership.
• Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
• Synthesize complex information into clear executive narratives with subject-matter experts.
• Support development and implementation of the Government Affairs strategic plan and annual priorities.
• Establish clear objectives, milestones, owners, and measures of success for major priorities.
• Track progress and identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities.
• Lead high-priority cross-functional projects for the SVP with senior-level visibility.
