Job summary

Sparrow Health System in Lansing, MI seeks a Physician Coding Specialist to apply CPT and ICD-10-CM codes from clinical documentation, supporting accurate billing and revenue cycle processes.

You will work in a multi-physician practice, correlate diagnoses and procedures, and stay current with coding guidelines. Epic experience is preferred and collaboration with providers and billing staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Certified coding credentials CPC/COC/RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P required or in progress.
• Membership in AHIMA or AAPC in good standing is expected.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and procedure coding of provider services according to established guidelines.
• Correlate diagnoses, procedures and modifiers with the medical billing system based on provider documentation.
• Assist with maintaining an effective system for coding and charge processing.
• Stay current with coding changes through continued education.
• Assist with developing and maintaining policies/procedures for coding processes.
