Job summary

Biogen is seeking an Associate Director, External Growth & Innovation to drive strategic partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem in North America. You will lead end-to-end deal processes, from diligence to implementation, coordinating Legal, Compliance and Procurement.

In a fast-moving, data-driven environment, you will translate opportunities into scalable programs, build strong partner relationships, and deliver measurable business value while navigating biopharma market dynamics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience within the healthcare industry, including healthcare consulting and/or commercial biopharmaceutical experience.
• Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare ecosystem, including key stakeholders, market dynamics, and evolving industry trends.
• Working knowledge of emerging healthcare technologies and innovations, including the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance business outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead effectively through change, ambiguity, and organizational transformation.
• Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs involving multiple workstreams, diverse stakeholder groups, and competing priorities.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey complex ideas to senior leaders and key organizational stakeholders.
• Strong project management, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on delivering measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of strategic partnership initiatives by developing clear workplans, defining milestones, managing dependencies, and mitigating risks to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate and influence cross-functional teams and external partners, negotiating partnership agreements with Legal, Compliance, and Procurement.
• Drive transition of partnership programs from pilot to scale using performance data to recommend expansion, optimization, or sunset decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners while advocating for partnership investments and long-term success.
• Act as a strategic advisor to Therapeutic Area teams, identifying partnership opportunities that address unmet needs and accelerate growth.
• Monitor U.S. healthcare market trends, emerging care models, and ecosystem developments to identify high-impact collaboration opportunities.
• Develop business cases for new partnerships by evaluating strategic alignment, potential impact, scalability, feasibility, and investment requirements.
• Establish and track KPIs to measure partnership effectiveness, inform decision-making, and demonstrate business value.
