Job summary

United Way of the Midlands seeks a Corporate Engagement and Internship Manager to lead the Young Men United postsecondary career exploration efforts by developing and expanding paid internship partnerships. This role will support workshops, campus tours, workplace tours, and family support, coordinating with UWM staff and external partners.

The position is in-office based in Columbia, SC, with a focus on building relationships with employers and coordinating internship opportunities for

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred and relevant education/experience in workforce development or nonprofit programming.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, human resources, or related field required or strongly preferred.
• Experience building and sustaining employer relationships and tracking internship outcomes.
• 3+ years in workforce development, career services, higher education, nonprofit programming, or related field.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, recruit, and maintain relationships with local, regional, and remote employers to increase paid internship pipelines.
• Develop and expand partnerships with corporations, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
• Conduct sessions to help students clarify career goals and navigate internship applications.
• Prepare resumes and industry-specific letters; assist with interviews.
• Maintain caseload of 35-55 students and monitor academic progress and career planning.
• Support internship host orientations and site visits; coordinate campus tours.
