Job summary

The City of Springdale seeks a Parks and Recreation Director to lead planning and development of programs and park areas for the community. The incumbent will oversee maintenance, policies, and stakeholder engagement to ensure quality public services.

The role supervises three managers, totaling up to 50 FTE and 100 PT staff, and manages the department budget while reporting to executive leadership. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, parks and recreation, or related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience and/or training.
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of engagement, belonging, and high performance; provide quality customer service and maintain positive working relationships.
• Directly supervise three subordinate supervisors who oversee up to 50 FTE and 100 PT staff, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
• Provide leadership and direction to personnel within the department.
• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate departmental operations, programs, services, and activities for efficient service delivery.
• Prepare, administer, and monitor departmental budget and ensure fiscal accountability.
