Job summary

City of Springdale is seeking an experienced Recreation Program Coordinator to plan, implement, promote and administer city recreation programs and special events. The role assists with registration, supervises programs during evenings and weekends, hires and trains part-time staff, and coordinates volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, plus 12-18 months of management experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification within one year of hire.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, under adverse conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, promote, and administer recreation programs and special events.
• Assist with general registration of parks facilities and recreation programs.
• Supervise recreation programs during evenings and weekends; address complaints and problems.
• Provide program/event management and facility supervision for sports, camps, clinics and tournaments.
• Develop marketing for programs including registration materials and publicity.
• Hire, train, and schedule part-time employees and volunteers; coordinate contract workers.
• Assist in administration of the parks and recreation office and front desk tasks.
• Order and maintain equipment; prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reports.
• Proficient with online facility and sports scheduling; collaborate with outside groups to run programs.
