Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Strategy and Operations Lead for Creative Partnerships in San Francisco. This role partners with leadership to translate priorities into clear decisions, plans, and operating rhythms, aligning resources and investments to strategic goals and delivering coordinated action.

You will own planning cycles, headcount, and budgets, while collaborating with Finance, Production, and other teams to surface risks and drive execution. Hybrid work with in-office Mon–Wed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Strategy and Operations, Business Operations, Chief of Staff, or related strategic operating role in a fast-moving organization.
• Trusted partner to senior leaders, helping set priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, communicate decisions, and maintain organizational alignment.
• Experience building planning processes, leadership cadences, portfolio systems, and operating models from zero to one.
• Translate ambiguous or incomplete inputs into structured recommendations, practical plans, and clear ownership.
• Led complex cross-functional initiatives from definition through implementation and sustained operations.
• Strong financial and analytical fluency, including budgets, forecasts, investment scenarios, resource allocation, and planning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic and operational partner to Creative Partnerships leadership, turning priorities into plans and follow-through.
• Design and run core operating rhythms: planning cycles, business reviews, leadership meetings, decision forums, offsites, cross-functional comms.
• Maintain a clear view of active/upcoming work, commitments, dependencies, capacity, and risks.
• Help leadership prioritize opportunities against goals; evaluate requests; determine investment, deferral, or redirection of resources.
• Lead annual/half-year planning, goal setting, roadmap development, and progress reviews; tie strategy to people, budget, and support.
• Own leadership process for headcount, org planning, and resource requests.
• Partner with Resource Management and Production to forecast staffing needs and delivery risks early.
• Establish visibility with Finance and program owners on allocations, forecasts, commitments, actuals, and risks.
• Develop scenarios/analyses of costs, value, resources, and operational implications of programs and partnerships.
• Lead strategic cross-functional initiatives: operating-model design, portfolio management, role clarity, partner strategy, new programs.
