Job summary

Association for Financial Professionals is hiring a Senior Accountant/Finance Lead to manage the monthly and annual close, oversee accounting operations, and govern Sage Intacct systems. You will partner with Sales and program owners for accurate invoicing, revenue recognition, and reporting, while guiding a high-performing accounting team.

You will coordinate budget planning with the CFO, analyze variances, support audits, and strengthen internal controls to drive strategic financial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes.
• Experience with external audits and financial reporting.
• Proficient with financial systems and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and annual close, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll, and cash management activities.
• Govern Sage Intacct, COA, dimensions, integrations, and reporting.
• Oversee accounting in the Association Management System and revenue recognition.
• Collaborate with Sales and program owners on contracts and invoicing.
• Analyze results and provide insights to CFO and leadership.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning with CFO.
• Oversee banking and treasury activities and controls.
• Lead annual financial statement audits and compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
• Partner with IT to improve financial systems and automation.
• Support Board Audit and Finance Committees.
• Coach and develop Senior Accountant and Accounting Coordinator.
