Job summary

Lasell Village is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function, ensure GAAP-based financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls in a growing nonprofit senior living community in Newton, MA. Reporting to the CFO, the role provides financial analysis to inform strategy, supervises month-end close, and coordinates audits and regulatory filings while upholding fiscal stewardship.

This on-site position requires 4 days in the office, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, nonprofit/healthcare or senior living preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and audits.
• Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel; MultiView/PointClickCare a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for non-financial audiences.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for leadership.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Analyze results and explain variances from budget and prior periods.
• Prepare analyses to support executive decision-making.
• Oversee GL, AP, and fixed asset accounting; lead month-end close.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and improve accounting processes.
• Coordinate annual external audit and Form 990 filings; monitor risks.
