Northeast Kingdom Human Services in Newport, VT is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and payroll teams. Reporting to the CFO, you will manage monthly close, GAAP financial statements, and the day-to-day Business Office operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

This full-time, exempt role requires a BS in accounting or business, 6+ years of experience, and strong supervisory, communication, and software skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
• 6+ years of related experience.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation a plus.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in accounting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• A leadership style that emphasizes teamwork, coaching, trust, and accountability.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Manage general ledger accounting system and journal entries.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting for finance committee and Board.
• Review agency grant revenue spreadsheets monthly.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and cash postings.
• Prepare for annual audits and tax reports including 1099s.
• Supervise accounting and payroll staff and provide coaching.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements and cash flow reporting.
