Job summary

This role emphasizes ownership beyond transactions, monitoring inventory and supplier performance, and driving improvements in procurement processes. Cross-training in Materials Technician functions will broaden understanding of material flow and provide flexibility on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing/procurement in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to monitor inventory and determine reorder points.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day purchasing activities for MRO supplies, office supplies, and production materials from PO placement to delivery.
• Determine what, when, and how much material to purchase based on inventory levels, usage, and lead times.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing and terms.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and coordinate with internal departments.
• Create and maintain purchase orders and follow up on late orders.
• Identify potential supply disruptions and take proactive action to minimize impact on production.
• Cross-train in Materials Technician responsibilities to provide backup and flexibility.
• Perform or support incoming material receiving and qualification activities.
