Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI is seeking a logistics and supply chain professional to manage the performance of logistics providers across ocean, rail, and truck modes. You will drive cost, quality and speed KPIs, interfacing with Plants, Purchasing and Finance.

You will develop freight strategies, monitor shipping schedules, optimize total landed cost, and lead continuous improvement with external providers.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
1+ years of Supply Chain or Operations Management work experience.
Strong understanding of MP&L (CMMS, Data Warehouse).
Experience and strong understanding with Microsoft (Excel, Word,PowerPoint, Access) systems.
Ability to create presentations with clear objectives that tailor content to audience interests.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to travel to plants, external warehouses, provider sites; weekend work may be required.
Strong written and oral communication skills: communicating with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Develop material freight strategies with cross-functional team.
Collaborate with external providers in monitoring carrier schedules.
Identify and implement cost savings and continuous improvement projects.
Conduct regular performance and cost review meetings with service providers to maintain performance.
Create, monitor, and manage Purchase Order Requisitions for external service providers.
Develop total landed cost decisions.
Develop reporting to track supplier performance to key metrics.
Determine appropriate business analysis for decision-making.
Monitor supplier/carrier delivery performance and drive improvement.
Provide training for suppliers and service providers.
Implement freight efficiencies to achieve cost targets.
Develop logistics strategies with the Transportation/Logistics Purchasing Organization.
Develop equipment and routing specs to support RFQ processes.
Publish shipping instructions and manage daily changes.
SupportPurchasing in reacting to network changes at minimal cost.
Audit/dispute logistics provider billing discrepancies.
Interface with Plant/Site Managers to resolve issues between plants, suppliers, and carriers.
Execute long-term logistics plans with providers.
Support new product launches with zero production losses due to logistics issues.
Use data and metrics to develop standards for inventory or transit float and routing to reduce cost.
Leverage technology to reduce premium freight and accessorial costs.
Track and expedite critical/backordered parts to prevent production delays.
Evaluate expedited shipping methods based on cost and urgency.
