Job summary

Merck & Co. is hiring a Maintenance Planner- Specialist Engineering to oversee maintenance scheduling and planning for our facilities in the United States. The role emphasizes coordinating work orders, inspecting sites, and developing effective work plans to minimize downtime.

You will work with CMMS systems, manage spares and tools, and ensure safety and GMP compliance while supporting audits and site improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or technical field or equivalent maintenance industry experience.
  • Three years of manufacturing experience or equivalent in a maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of large industrial equipment (fans, pumps, air handlers) and related components.
  • Strong computer skills including CMMS and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Assign codes to work orders and develop clear work plans for maintenance scheduling.
  • Perform field inspections and determine appropriate job scopes and safety considerations.
  • Maintain CMMS records, master data, and plant history for timely updates.
  • Support procurement and staging of materials and tools for maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance and prepare reports for management and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety and environmental regulations.
