Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring a Planner/Scheduler to coordinate and optimize maintenance planning for Desert Pumping Plants and facilities. You will monitor work orders, organize resources with internal teams and external contractors, and ensure safety and timeliness in all activities.

The role emphasizes on-site coordination, with a 4/10 schedule and a focus on minimizing disruption to operations while delivering reliable water to 19 million people.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certificate of High School equivalency and five years journey-level experience in a relevant trade or craft.
• Public utility environment experience (Water Department, Conveyance & Distribution, Treatment Plant, etc.).
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling activities.
• Provide operational support for Desert Pumping Plants and facilities.
• Coordinate and monitor corrective maintenance work orders for timely resolution.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to organize resources, timelines, and materials.
• Ensure projects and maintenance activities are completed safely, on time, with minimal disruption.
