Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes division is seeking a Legal Operations Manager to optimize the Legal Organization by managing systems, data and vendor relationships. You will support matter management, budgeting, invoicing, and training, enabling attorneys to focus on strategic work.

The role emphasizes implementing legal tech tools, improving efficiency, and driving cost controls while collaborating with Finance and outside counsel. This position offers broad impact across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Finance, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 6-8 years of experience supporting Legal operations, Legal departments, or other similar professional services operations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working with data, reports, and metrics to support operational decision-making.
• Proficiency with common business tools (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and comfort learning new systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day legal operations activities, including matter management, intake processes, payment systems and training resources.
• Assist with management of legal spend, budgeting, forecasting, and invoice review in partnership with Finance.
• Support implementation and ongoing use of legal technology tools (e.g., matter management, e-billing, contract lifecycle systems).
• Coordinate with and oversee outside counsel and other vendors, including onboarding, performance tracking, and compliance with billing guidelines.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics on Legal Organization operations as requested.
• Support process improvement initiatives to optimize legal output, including use of alternate legal service providers, right shoring and use of technology, including through automated legal services or artificial intelligence.
• Assist with development and maintenance of Legal Organization policies.
