Job summary

Humana is seeking a Legal Operations Professional to organize and analyze law department data, including matter management metrics and outside counsel spend.

The role involves supporting finance-driven insights, creating models for AFAs and cost optimizations, and coordinating vendor management within Humana's offices in DC, Louisville, and Chicago. Strong MS Office and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 1+ year in legal operations or related professional services environment.
• Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support operational reporting and decision-making.
• 1+ years of experience with financial analysis, including building financial models and pricing reviews.
• Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency for financial modeling and data analysis.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Help administer and maintain legal technology platforms (e-billing, matter management, knowledge management).
• Assist with vendor management coordination, including tracking outside counsel performance, processing invoices, and maintaining vendor records.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations on law department metrics, spend trends, and benchmarking data to inform leadership decision-making.
• Conduct financial analysis of law department spend data, including reviewing pricing structures of law firms and legal service providers.
• Create financial models to analyze AFAs, prompt pay discounts, volume discounts, and other fee structures to identify cost savings.
• Support pricing reviews, rate benchmarking, and value assessments to inform negotiation strategies.
• Work guided by precedent and documented procedures/regulations.
