Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking a Learning Designer and LMS Specialist to craft outcomes-driven learning experiences and manage the LMS for the Continuing Education team. You will support development, implementation, and evaluation of digital learning initiatives and provide exceptional user support.

Responsibilities include Canvas administration, course development, content creation, and training instructors and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in educational technology, instructional design, or education.
• Experience as instructional or academic staff in an educational or museum environment.
• Experience with educational technology; familiarity with Canvas/Zoom/Kaltura preferred.
• Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal/communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and collaboratively in planning, implementing, and assessing projects.
• Experience delivering training and support in multiple modalities.
• Video editing tools/production experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with NYBG staff to identify and meet teaching and learning technology needs.
• Leads Digital Learning staff member coordinating with IT to support education.
• Creates engaging learning experiences for asynchronous courses.
• Oversees Canvas administration including users, courses, testing, and reporting.
• Supports LMS integrations and content development for Canvas sites.
• Develops templates, courses, and content with Education and Digital Learning staff.
• Provides Canvas group and 1:1 training for instructors, students, and staff.
• Delivers exemplary customer service for technology-related issues in Education.
• Maintains knowledge of online learning research and best practices.
