Job summary

Symbotic in Wilmington, MA seeks a Senior Manager to lead System Modeling & Design Simulation. You will guide a team of 5–10 engineers, develop mathematical models and simulation tools, and shape product architectures with quantitative analysis.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in system simulation, modeling or related fields.
• 3+ years engineering management experience.
• Experience leading teams of 5–10 engineers.
• Strong background in mathematical modeling, optimization, and systems analysis.
• Experience with discrete-event simulation, capacity planning, and performance modeling.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategy for system modeling, engineering simulation, and design optimization.
• Develop mathematical models representing robotic systems, workflows, and processes.
• Lead creation of simulation tools to evaluate future product architectures and concepts.
• Build capabilities for throughput analysis, capacity planning, system optimization, and performance forecasting.
• Drive design-space exploration and trade-off analysis for next-generation products and technologies.
• Develop discrete-event, operational, and system-level simulations for strategic decisions.
• Partner with architecture, controls, mechanical, and software teams to analyze design alternatives and optimize system performance.
• Establish quantitative methodologies and predictive models to improve decision-making across the organization.
• Lead and develop a team of 5-10 simulation and modeling engineers.
• Establish technical standards and modeling best practices.
• Create a culture focused on analytical rigor, innovation, and engineering excellence.
• Support hiring, mentoring, and career growth of technical staff.
• Provide simulation-based recommendations that influence roadmaps.
• Partner with engineering leadership to assess investments and architectural decisions.
• Communicate complex findings to executive and cross-functional audiences.
