Job summary

City of Buda is seeking an Assistant Public Works Director - Utilities to lead water and wastewater operations, planning, and capital programs. You will oversee budgeting, compliance, asset management, and staff development to ensure reliable, safe, and environmentally responsible utility services.

The role requires strategic oversight, strong collaboration with internal/external partners, and readiness to respond to emergencies while maintaining service standards and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, engineering, environmental science, natural resources, construction management, business administration, or a closely related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible municipal water or wastewater utility experience, including three years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee water and wastewater operations, including planning, maintenance, and capital improvements.
• Direct budgeting, revenue monitoring, and rate/fee evaluations to support utility services.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and maintain permits for water and wastewater systems.
• Lead and develop utility staff, coordinate with internal and external partners, and manage emergency response preparedness.
