Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a strategic Contract Manager to develop and implement the Contract Management strategy for Hub North America in alignment with business priorities and corporate goals.

You will lead the Contract Management organization, oversee policy adherence, review tender documentation, support proposals, negotiate with customers and suppliers, and manage risk across the contract lifecycle while coaching teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Must already have work authorization permitting employment with Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• University degree in Law or equivalent qualification combined with relevant professional experience; legal education or a professional legal background is preferred.
• More than seven years of relevant professional experience as a Contract Manager, legal counsel, legal advisor, or in a comparable contractual and commercial role.
• Extensive Contract Management experience during tendering and project execution, preferably involving complex technology, energy, infrastructure, engineering, EPC, or industrial projects.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and administering complex commercial contracts.
• Knowledge of contract strategy, contractual risk allocation, change management, claims management, dispute resolution, and contract-related legal matters.
• Ability to provide practical guidance on complex contractual matters.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Successful completion of applicable background screening and security checks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Contract Management strategy for Hub North America in alignment with business priorities and corporate goals.
• Lead the Contract Management organization.
• Oversee consistent application of contract and claim management methodologies, policies, and procedures.
• Review contractual and commercial tender documentation to identify obligations, risks, and opportunities.
• Support tendering and sales activities by developing commercially sustainable and contractually compliant proposals.
• Negotiate and manage contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
• Identify, assess, document, and mitigate contractual, commercial, and financial risks throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Provide Contract Management support during project execution, including claims, changes, variations, contractual obligations, and dispute resolution.
• Coach and develop Contract Management professionals.
• Promote knowledge sharing, standardization, and continuous improvement across the Hub.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Risk Management, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and other functions
