Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is building a new Asian-style facility in Sioux Falls, SD and is hiring a Labor Scheduler to optimize staffing for plant operations. You will develop schedules, monitor exceptions, and coordinate with Production Scheduling and HR to ensure efficient labor utilization and compliance with policies.

The role requires 3–5 years in labor scheduling or related fields, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and proficiency with Kronos and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years in labor scheduling, workforce planning, manufacturing operations, or related field.
• Experience with workforce management systems; Kronos knowledge preferred.
• Strong data entry, database management, and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with plant departments to ensure labor resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.
• Develop, maintain, and adjust employee schedules based on operational needs and priorities.
• Monitor scheduling exceptions including call-ins and weather disruptions.
• Communicate staffing needs and schedule changes to supervisors and affected employees.
• Partner with Production Scheduling to align labor with production plans and adjust as needed.
• Organize weekly labor scheduling meetings with supervisors and department leaders.
• Identify training needs impacting scheduling effectiveness and report to management.
• Coordinate shift coverage and staffing assignments with production staff.
• Maintain Kronos or other workforce data: assignments, transfers, availability, shifts, skill data.
• Work with HR and temp agencies to keep records current and accurate.
• Track vacation, attendance, and call-in data; analyze trends.
• Report scheduling metrics and workforce trends to Labor Scheduling Manager.
