Job summary

CJ Schwan’s in Sioux Falls, SD is hiring a Labor Scheduler – Day Shift to evaluate workforce needs and build effective labor schedules supporting plant operations. Under general supervision, you’ll coordinate with departments, maintain workforce data in Kronos, and partner with Scheduling, HR, and temp agencies to ensure staffing aligns with production.

The role requires strong data, communication, and problem-solving skills, with emphasis on safety and timely scheduling decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years in labor scheduling or workforce planning.
• Experience with workforce management systems; Kronos knowledge preferred.
• Strong data entry and database management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with plant departments to optimize labor resources.
• Develop and adjust employee schedules based on operational needs and priorities.
• Monitor scheduling exceptions such as call-ins and weather disruptions.
• Communicate staffing needs and changes to supervisors, managers, and staff.
• Partner with Production Scheduling to align labor requirements with production plans.
• Organize weekly labor scheduling meetings with supervisors and department leaders.
• Identify workforce training needs and communicate recommendations to management.
• Coordinate shift coverage and staffing assignments with production employees.
• Maintain Kronos workforce data and related records accurately.
