Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking a Senior Category Manager to lead IT category sourcing, vendor governance, and negotiation with hardware, software and services providers. You will partner with stakeholders to reduce total cost of ownership and manage supplier relationships across the portfolio.

The role requires 5+ years in sourcing or procurement, with a focus on IT and a strong governance mindset. Hybrid/Remote flexibility is offered with nationwide availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Establish sourcing strategies for IT categories, focusing on hardware but expanding to software/services.
• Conduct sourcing events with project work plans, category profiles, and evaluation criteria.
• Develop bid documents (RFP/RFI/RFQ) and manage reporting and metrics.
• Analyze market dynamics and share industry knowledge within the portfolio.
• Partner with stakeholders to source products/services using proven tools and analytics.
• Evaluate total cost of ownership and provide optimization recommendations.
• Lead vendor negotiations and cross-functional governance initiatives.
• Oversee supplier relationship management and performance within categories.
• Drive vendor engagement and coordinate business reviews.
• Develop yearly vendor plans and address risks and compliance.
