Job summary

ASM Research seeks a Capacity Manager to establish ITIL-aligned capacity management across compute, storage, network, and application tiers in a federal IT environment. You will monitor performance, analyze trends, and forecast demand to inform budgeting and technology planning.

Collaboration with architecture, operations, and service owners is essential to identify risks and propose optimization or scaling options while aligning with SLAs and change schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or service management with focus on performance analysis and capacity planning.
• Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in capacity management and strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across architecture, operations, and business functions.
• Candidates must have a current secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain an ITIL-based capacity management framework linking demand, performance, and resources across the enterprise.
• Collect and analyze utilization and performance metrics from servers, storage, networks, and databases to detect bottlenecks.
• Build capacity forecasts and what-if models using historical trends and planned projects to recommend scaling or upgrades.
• Produce regular capacity and performance reports and dashboards for leadership and service owners.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and operations to incorporate capacity into solution designs and release plans in a regulated environment.
• Identify and lead capacity optimization initiatives such as rightsizing, consolidation, virtualization, and cloud elasticity.
• Integrate capacity management with incident, problem, and change processes for long-term remediation.
