Job summary

BY Recruiting is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee HR operations at our California sites, including the headquarters in Orange County. This role handles employee relations, benefits, compliance, and visas while partnering with the CFO and executive team.

The successful candidate will drive the shift from administrative to strategic HR, build policies, engage employees, and lead a small HR team through a period of growth and change.

Qualifications

• Progressive HR experience, including time as an HR Manager or HR leader.
• 10+ years in HR, with 5+ years in leadership.
• Broad generalist experience in employee relations, benefits, workers' compensation, compliance, and policy development.
• Experience with an HRIS or payroll platform.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with comfort advising senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HR for both U.S. sites: the California headquarters and a growing manufacturing site in another state.
• Lead a small HR team and partner with site managers and local site staff.
• Report to the CFO and work directly with the CEO and the executive team.
• Handle employee relations, including investigations and sensitive matters.
• Own benefits administration, workers' compensation, leaves and accommodations, and compliance with California and multi-state employment law.
• Manage employee visa and immigration cases.
• Build out HR policies, processes, and programs as the function matures.
• Champion employee activities, engagement, and culture initiatives.
• Plan HR support for the second site as it grows.
