Job summary

Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston seeks a Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy, policies, and programs across the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, and labor relations.

The role partners with executive leadership to advance human capital initiatives and foster an inclusive work environment within the Commonwealth.

Qualifications

• Six-plus years of professional/managerial experience in business/public administration.
• Experience in public sector and/or union environments preferred.
• Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll processes and timekeeping accuracy.
• Manage staffing, classification, compensation, and salary adjustments.
• Analyze workforce metrics to support strategic decisions.
• Advise executives and managers on position development and funding.
• Provide guidance on union issues and serve as Step 2 Hearing officer.
• Coordinate diversity and equal opportunity efforts.
• Design and monitor HR policies, systems, and processes.
