Job summary

Counties is seeking an experienced Personnel Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for the County’s HR programs. This role reports to the Chief Administrator, overseeing the Personnel Office and directing work across recruitment, classification, benefits, labor relations, training, investigations, and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of progressively responsible HR experience, including three years in supervisory roles.
• California Class C Driver License or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Personnel Office and direct HR programs for recruitment, classification, benefits, and labor relations.
• Advise department heads and supervise Personnel Division staff.
• Lead workplace investigations, workers’ compensation, return-to-work, and safety initiatives.
• Represent the County in employee negotiations and prepare matters for the Board of Supervisors.
