Job summary

County of Davidson seeks a Human Resources Director to plan, direct and lead the HR department, aligning its initiatives with the county's strategic goals. You will oversee recruitment, employee relations, training, classification and compensation, benefits, safety and HRIS, working with county management to deliver efficient HR services.

The role requires strong leadership, budget management, policy development and the ability to advise department heads on employment law and best practices,

Qualifications

• Public sector HR knowledge and county government experience.
• Five years of supervisory or management experience.
• Understanding of employment laws and regulations.
• Ability to plan and implement HR programs aligned with strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs the work of Human Resources department staff.
• Develops and implements the HR department vision, mission, goals and objectives.
• Prepares the annual HR budget request and monitors approved expenditures.
• Monitors workflow to ensure processes and programs are coordinated.
• Advises county management on HR matters including employee relations and performance management.
• Represents HR before the Board of County Commissioners to present policies and initiatives.
• Develops and maintains personnel policies with Board approval.
• Directs personnel actions and documentation including hiring, transfers, and pay actions.
• Coordinates with department directors on HR matters and best practices.
• Responds to employee inquiries and facilitates resolutions.
• Oversees applicant tracking and recruiting programs.
• Manages the position classification and compensation plan.
• Oversees safety programs and worker compensation administration.
• Provides supervisory training and employee development support.
