Job summary

The Washington State Department of Commerce is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) to serve assigned divisions, providing expert guidance on labor and employee relations, classification, compensation, investigations, recruitment and DEI initiatives.

As a strategic partner to executives and managers, you will advise on staffing, performance, policy interpretation, and program development, while upholding confidentiality, ethics, and compliance with state laws and agency policies.

Qualifications

• Seven years of combined experience and/or education as described below.
• Experience advising and consulting on human resource issues related to organizational development and change of programs’ operational needs and priorities.
• Experience administering protected leave programs, including but not limited to, leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, Reasonable Accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Washington’s Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) program and/or shared leave donation programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert HR consultation to executives and managers.
• Advise on labor and employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
• Plan and implement HR programs, policies and procedures.
