Job summary

All State Fastener Corporation in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Buyer to manage supplier relationships, maintain inventory, coordinate deliveries, and ensure the quality and accuracy of purchased products across our procurement and supply chain operations.

This role requires a proactive, organized professional with at least five years in purchasing or supply chain, strong Excel and ERP experience, and the ability to analyze vendor performance to optimize costs and service levels.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain experience.
• Fastener industry experience desired but not required.
• Experience with overseas purchasing, international supply chains, and global sourcing preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP and purchasing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Request pricing, availability, and lead-time information from suppliers and issue purchase orders, including strategic advance buys.
• Maintain inventory levels by purchasing products that meet quality and cost objectives.
• Schedule shipments, manage returns, and coordinate customs broker activities to ensure timely delivery.
• Review and validate purchase orders, identify discrepancies, and work with suppliers on corrective actions.
• Monitor supplier performance and analyze vendor data to drive continuous improvement.
• Adjust purchasing plans based on customer forecasts and production schedules to meet demand.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and support quality initiatives.
• Oversee expediting activities to meet schedule requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP documentation.
• Verify supplier acknowledgments align with PO requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality and suppliers to resolve non-conforming materials.
• Balance fastener inventory to support customer requirements.
• Quote logistics costs, negotiate transportation, and coordinate shipments.
• Support company policies, procedures, standards, and work instructions.
• Perform additional duties to support purchasing and operations.
