Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands, headquartered in Cary, NC, is seeking the Business Unit General Counsel for the Windows & Doors unit. You will serve as the primary legal partner to BU leadership, guiding strategy, risk management, regulatory compliance, and governance across product development, manufacturing, sales, and distribution.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law.
• 10 years of legal experience, with 4+ years supporting a business unit preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial products, or construction/building materials industry preferred.
• Background in commercial law, contracts, litigation/claims and regulatory compliance.
• Experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal budgets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal counsel and trusted advisor for assigned business unit leadership team.
• Partner with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and provide proactive legal guidance.
• Participate in strategic planning sessions and provide legal risk assessments.
• Support merger and acquisition activities, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Advise on corporate governance matters affecting the business unit.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including supply agreements, distribution contracts, manufacturing agreements, and licensing deals.
• Manage customer and vendor contract portfolios, ensuring favorable terms and risk mitigation.
• Support sales teams with contract negotiations and deal structuring.
• Advise on pricing strategies, terms and conditions, and commercial risk management.
• Handle contract disputes and claims management.
