Job summary

NFI Industries, a leading freight and logistics provider, seeks a Freight Broker to drive the carrier lifecycle for its Brokerage division. You will source, onboard, negotiate, and manage strategic carrier partnerships to meet profitability and service goals while reporting to Capacity management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required (Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in transportation brokerage, carrier management, or logistics operations, preferred working with domestic truckload providers.
• Demonstrated experience in rate negotiation, margin management, and carriersourcing strategy.
• Independent commitment towards sharpening existing or acquiring new skills as required by demands of the business or customers.
• Market knowledge of truckload lanes and rates
• Excellent customer relationship building and account management skills
• Strong analytical, financial acumen, and decision-making skills.
• Proficient in TMS, Excel, and analytics/reporting tools used in brokerage services
• Excellent communication, relationship management, and problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and select carriers aligned with procurement standards.
• Approve and onboard carriers, ensuring compliance with qualification and risk requirements.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of carriers fitting the brokerage profile.
• Manage carrier mix and capacity allocation to support profitability.
• Review market trends and KPI data to manage carrier performance.
• Negotiate contractual and spot rates within defined margins.
• Meet with carriers to align performance with business needs.
• Own daily operational decisions regarding carrier assignments and margin optimization.
• Use data on lane and rate trends to optimize carrier placement.
• Analyze lane performance and service failures to improve profitability.
• Contribute to quarterly business reviews and performance analyses with key carriers.
• Identify process improvements and lead automation initiatives.
• Resolve service, compliance, or performance disputes with carriers and internal teams.
• Promote continuous learning and process improvements across the team.
• Uphold service, compliance, and safety standards across carrier interactions.
