Job summary

Optum is seeking a Finance Manager to partner with functional leadership, delivering forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and strategic analyses. You will lead a small team and drive financial discipline across shared services.

The role requires executive-ready communication, strong analytical capability, and demonstrated people leadership to influence decisions across stakeholders. Collaboration with enterprise finance is essential for cost optimization and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
• 4+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, corporate finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring.
• Experience leading financial planning processes including forecasting, budgeting, month-end analysis, and financial reporting.
• Experience partnering with business leaders and influencing decisions through financial insights.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).
• Solid financial modeling and financial statement analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
• Ability to manage priorities independently and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary finance partner to functional leadership, providing insights and driving accountability to commitments.
• Lead FP&A activities including forecasting, budgeting, month-end close support, and variance analysis.
• Own analysis of business and financial metrics across shared services.
• Articulate performance stories to stakeholders with clear narratives.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting communicating actual results and forecasts.
• Identify risks/opportunities with leaders and drive cost-efficiency strategies.
• Lead financial reviews and translate results into actionable leadership-ready insights.
• Manage and coach one direct report and guide development.
• Oversee team workload and timely delivery of deliverables.
• Review analyses and leadership materials for accuracy and consistency.
• Support continuous improvement of processes and tools.
