Job summary

Detector Electronics in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead annual plans, forecasts, and performance analytics. You will guide a team of FP&A professionals, partner with leaders across operations, and drive value creation through robust financial modeling and KPI development.

The role reports to the CFO, focusing on profitability analytics, pricing strategy, and strategic initiatives, with opportunities to influence M&A evaluation and post-close

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar field; MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years progressive FP&A experience.
• Mastery of financial modeling, sensitivity/scenario analysis, and operational KPI development.
• Expertise in manufacturing cost structures, standard costing, and inventory optimization.
• Hands‑on ERP (JDE) and BI experience (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial models, directly linked to the company's value creation metrics.
• Partner with functional leaders across the business to identify and quantify opportunities in margin expansion, SG&A efficiency, and working capital optimization.
• Build scenario and “what-if” models to stress test strategic initiatives and quantify their impact on P&L, cash flow, and EBITDA.
• Design and implement performance dashboards and KPI scorecards that drive accountability across the business.
• Own profitability analytics to inform pricing, product mix, and channel strategy decisions.
• Prepare clear, insight-driven financial packages for senior leadership and the private equity sponsor.
• Support M&A activity, including target evaluation, financial due diligence, and post-close integration performance tracking.
• Manage and develop a team of FP&A analysts, setting priorities, reviewing work product, and building their skills over time.
• Establish clear standards for accuracy, turnaround time, and presentation quality across the team's output.
• Drive FP&A process automation and closer integration with core systems to produce faster, cleaner, and more actionable insights.
• Pressure test forecasts and assumptions, and insist on fact-based decision making across the organization.
• Serve as a thought partner to the CFO in shaping the company's financial strategy and transformation priorities.
