Job summary

Harvard University’s Harvard College Library seeks an Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead budgeting, forecasting, multi-year planning, and resource stewardship for a diverse portfolio of funds.

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will guide strategic financial decisions, collaborate with library leadership, and strengthen financial governance across operating, endowment, and restricted funds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience.
• Strong supervisory experience.
• Advanced knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Harvard financial systems is a plus.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead FP&A staff, provide technical guidance, set priorities and support professional growth.
• Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team culture and ensure exceptional client service.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Develop and maintain FP&A documentation, controls, and business continuity plans.
• Lead annual operating budget, quarterly forecasts, multi-year plan, and capital planning.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to budget managers and library leadership.
• Monitor funding sources, endowment income, and donor restrictions; ensure compliance.
