Job summary

Rate is a leading retail mortgage lender based in Chicago, using tech-driven processes to help customers achieve homeownership. We seek an FP&A Analyst to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making across Production, Operations, and Corporate functions.

You will develop advanced financial models in Excel, analyze variances, and partner with Accounting, Capital Markets, Sales, and Leadership to deliver insights that optimize profitability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 1–5+ years of FP&A or related finance experience in mortgage/financial services.
• Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow dynamics.
• Advanced Excel modeling with data automation and scenario analysis.
• Experience with financial systems such as LoanVision, Workday Adaptive Planning, Oracle, Tableau or Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning for Production, Operations or Corporate functions.
• Analyze monthly results and explain variances against forecast and budget.
• Develop and maintain advanced Excel models for origination volume, margins, productivity, and profitability.
• Perform variance and trend analysis to improve profitability and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Capital Markets, and Operations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Support leadership with KPI reporting, board materials, and executive presentations.
• Identify process improvements to enhance forecast accuracy and reporting efficiency.
