Job summary

SkyChefs is seeking a Purchasing Specialist (Buyer) in San Francisco to manage sourcing, supplier relationships, and cost control for food-related categories. The role supports daily operations by ensuring timely product availability and optimizing inventory while collaborating with internal stakeholders and Customer Service Centers.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of purchasing experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with SAP and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of purchasing, procurement, or related experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research on products, suppliers, and pricing to identify sources meeting specifications and business requirements.
• Monitor product costs and market trends; proactively recommend cost- saving solutions.
• Strategically source ingredients to balance cost, quality, and availability while meeting customer requirements.
• Coordinate purchasing activities with vendors, including pricing updates, substitutions, backorders, and invoice discrepancies.
• Prepare and maintain ingredient costing throughout menu development; incorporate supplier cost revisions as needed.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure sourcing strategies align with program requirements and pricing agreements.
• Establish and maintain new product records within distribution and internal systems.
• Collaborate with CSC to minimize dead stock via resale, transfers, or salvage solutions.
