Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Four years of related experience with two years in supervision are required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Effective oral and written communication with good judgment under complex conditions.
• Public presentation skills to present to staff, the public, and City Council.
• Proficiency in computer use and related software including word processing and spreadsheets; ability to learn budgeting, fleet and fuel management software.

Responsibilities

• Provide good customer service to internal and external customers and maintain reliable attendance.
• Perform supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees.
• Manage the consolidated municipal vehicle fleet and plan procurement, maintenance and disposal.
• Develop policies and objectives for fleet operations and plans for depreciation and replacement.
• Develop fee schedules for vehicles and budgets for maintenance and replacement.
• Liaise with council equipment committee on procurement and replacement.
• Write bid specifications, review bids and recommend awards based on life cycle costs.
• Ensure fleet operations comply with federal, state and local laws; administer fueling systems.
• Establish maintenance schedules and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field

NAFA Fleet Manager certification (preferred)
