Job summary

GCI Communication Corp. in Alaska is seeking a Manager, Fleet Operations to lead statewide fleet strategy, oversee maintenance, safety, vendor performance, and asset lifecycle planning across the state.

You will partner with business leaders to set standards and KPIs, optimize utilization, manage budgets, and deliver reports that improve reliability while reducing downtime and total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet operations or related field; includes responsibilities across maintenance, asset management, and safety.
• 2+ years of direct people leadership experience with performance coaching and workload prioritization.
• Experience managing vendors, SLAs, budgets, and operational performance metrics.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, lifecycle planning, safety/incident management, registrations, and fleet recordkeeping.
• Proficiency with fleet management or telematics systems and Excel-based reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, operations, performance, and results of Fleet Operations.
• Lead statewide fleet operations including vehicle availability, maintenance, acquisition, and disposal.
• Establish fleet standards, preventive maintenance, and replacement plans.
• Ensure fleet safety and regulatory compliance; oversee policies, telematics, and technology.
• Manage fleet budgets, forecasts, and vendor performance; develop acquisition/lease recommendations.
• Provide executive reporting and drive improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime and cost.
