Smithfield Foods in Smithfield, Virginia, is seeking a Senior Manager of Fleet Operations to lead strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of our private fleet across regions. You will drive safety, efficiency, cost optimization, and regulatory compliance, overseeing vehicle procurement, maintenance, fuel management, telematics, and vendor relationships to support business needs.

The role partners with Supply Chain, Operations, and Safety leadership to implement innovative solutions

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree + 8+ years in fleet or dedicated operations, including driver recruitment, safety programs, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive fleet management strategy focused on safety, efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization.
Oversee daily fleet operations including vehicle procurement, utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
Ensure adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards through proactive monitoring and training.
Develop and manage fleet budgets, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and negotiate with vendors for favorable terms.
Partner with internal teams and external vendors in contract negotiations and service delivery.
Drive telematics and fleet management system implementations to improve visibility and performance.
